Weighing the best alternatives to MIND for DLP

Key Takeaways:

  • The best MIND alternative for enterprise data loss prevention (DLP) is ORION Security, for enterprises whose main risk is sensitive data leaving through browsers, endpoints, SaaS, email, and AI tools.
  • Buyers who look past MIND want answers its public pages leave open, on personal AI accounts, unmanaged devices, supported browsers, and who reviews agent-written policies.
  • MIND does several things well. It pairs stored-data discovery with protection for data in motion, supports Linux and ChromeOS endpoints, and uses AI agents to write policies and carry out remediation.
  • Every platform here is compared on six tests you can run in a proof of concept, built around how MIND works.
  • Sources are each vendor's own pages, public review listings, and ORION Security's customer deployments, kept apart. The inclusion rules produced 3 alternatives.
  • Choose ORION Security if stopping data from leaving is the job that matters most. MIND still fits teams that want stored-data discovery and remediation inside their DLP product.

AI agents are starting to run parts of the data security program, and MIND has built its platform around that idea. The right alternative depends on where your data moves, which devices your people use, and how much you'd let software decide. This page explains how the list was built, what MIND does well, which questions to test, and how ORION Security compares.

How We Evaluated These MIND Alternatives

We compared each platform on six practical tests built around how MIND works: detection on data no scan has reached, source-to-destination context, personal versus corporate accounts, coverage beyond managed laptops, what AI agents decide on their own, and day-to-day control. We reviewed documentation and reported customer experience, so run the tests yourself.

The 6 tests to run in your proof of concept

Where the evidence comes from

MIND's own website, read on October 30, 2026, is the source for what MIND does. Performance statements there remain vendor claims, and its customer quotes are chosen by MIND.

Public reviews of MIND are thin. As of October 30, 2026, MIND's listings on G2, PeerSpot, and AWS Marketplace showed no customer reviews. ORION Security's customer figures are our own deployment evidence, anonymized and labeled as ours.

Which platforms made the list, and why there are 3

Three platforms made the list: ORION Security, Cyberhaven, and Jazz. Each came up repeatedly in the MIND comparisons we reviewed in October 2026, and each is a DLP platform buyers weigh against MIND.

Microsoft Purview is usually evaluated as part of a Microsoft licensing and compliance decision, so test its native controls first. MIND and ORION Security both integrate with it, and ORION Security adds behavioral context to the Purview detections and labels it brings in. Stored-data posture tools aren't ranked here.

Best MIND Alternatives at a Glance

ORION Security is the strongest MIND alternative for enterprises that want detection built on how data moves across browsers, endpoints, SaaS, email, and AI tools. Cyberhaven and Jazz are credible alternatives with different starting points: Cyberhaven leads with lineage-based investigation, and Jazz with an endpoint agent built for lean security teams.

How MIND and ORION Security Compare on the 6 Tests

MIND and ORION Security both use AI to cut rule-writing, and they start from different places. MIND pairs stored-data discovery with AI agents that write policies and remediate. ORION Security evaluates data as it moves, with its source, user, device, and destination. Each row is a test you can run side by side.

4. Coverage beyond managed laptopsAgent for Windows, Mac, Linux, and ChromeOS, plus a browser extension; its endpoint page says managed endpoints and lists no browsersSensors for Windows and macOS, a browser extension for supported browsers, and API connectors. Validate unmanaged paths

ORION Security reports roughly five percent false positives in its production customer materials

Neither vendor's documentation settles test 3, so you'll want to run it on both. Our guide to personal and corporate AI accounts lists the scenarios worth testing.

What MIND Does Well

MIND covers more of the data security program in one product than most DLP tools. It discovers and classifies stored data, protects data in motion, supports Windows, Mac, Linux, and ChromeOS endpoints, and uses AI agents to build classifiers, write policies, investigate issues, and carry out remediation, escalating to a person when approval is required.

Stored data is MIND's clearest strength. It classifies unstructured files across SaaS apps, on-premise file shares, endpoints, and email, and it can fix exposure before anything moves by revoking access, deleting files, or changing labels. If your program needs both jobs, our guide to data at rest versus data in motion explains how they differ.

Its product page lists 22 SaaS apps, including Google Drive, Box, Slack, Salesforce, and GitHub, plus nine GenAI apps. Linux and ChromeOS support matters to engineering teams and Chromebook users. MIND also announced a $72 million Series B in 2026.

Public reviews are thin, so these quotes come from MIND's homepage, selected by MIND. Julie Chickillo, VP of Information Security at Guild, says, "Being able to deploy a DLP program with a small team…that was a big win for me." Ryan Fritts, Chief Information Officer at Everon, says, "MIND's impact is both a productivity and a risk management improvement at the same time." Neither quote is dated.

Where MIND Falls Short: Why Enterprises Look for an Alternative

MIND's public materials leave several questions open: which browsers its extension supports, how it treats personal AI accounts, whether devices outside management are covered, and how much a person reviews before agent-written policies take effect. None of these is a proven gap, and each one belongs in your proof of concept before you renew or expand.

Start with devices. MIND's endpoint page names unmanaged browsers and apps as a risk, then says MIND secures data across your managed endpoints. It doesn't say what happens on a contractor's laptop. That's our reading, and test 4 settles it.

Then the agents. MIND says its policy agent creates policies from natural-language instructions and applies them. We didn't find who reviews a new policy before it takes effect. Ask for the approval settings and audit trail in writing.

Evidence is the third question. MIND publishes testimonials but no measured false-positive rate for its product, and its review listings were empty as of October 30, 2026, so reference calls matter more. Pricing isn't on its website either.

The Best MIND Alternative Is ORION Security

ORION Security is the best MIND alternative for enterprises whose main risk is sensitive data leaving through browsers, endpoints, SaaS, email, and AI tools. It classifies data as it moves, connects each movement to its source, user, device, and destination, and lets teams monitor, warn, or block where it has coverage.

ORION Security is DLP for data in motion, with enforcement. It isn't a data security posture management (DSPM) tool, and investigation is one part of its job, not the whole of it.

How detection works

Here's how ORION Security judges a movement: it evaluates three forms of context together. Lineage explains where data came from and how it moved. Classification at the moment of movement determines what the data contains. Identity and environment assess whether the movement makes sense for that user, device, role, account, and destination.

Detection doesn't wait for a full policy library. Useful findings can appear from the first connected sources, and policies remain for deterministic requirements, approved exceptions, and the warnings and blocks users see. Our explainer on how agentic DLP works goes deeper.

Where it has coverage

Endpoint sensors for Windows and macOS, a browser extension, and API connectors all feed ORION Security's detection. A file downloaded from Salesforce, saved to a laptop, and pasted into an AI tool can be judged as one sequence, and for supported AI workflows ORION Security can tell a personal account from a corporate one. Integrations include Microsoft Purview, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, CrowdStrike Falcon, and Splunk. Validate it on your highest-risk workflows.

What it takes to run

At one regional insurance brokerage, routine review takes approximately two hours a day from one team member, according to the customer's reported operating model. That's one customer's experience, not a staffing requirement. Our guide to reducing DLP false positives explains where noise usually comes from.

ORION Security at a glance

False positives: roughly five percent, ORION Security-reported from production customer materials. Coverage: endpoint sensors for Windows and macOS, a browser extension, and API connectors. Policies: available for deterministic requirements and exceptions, not required before useful findings appear. Controls: monitor, warn, and block where ORION Security has coverage. Pricing: quote-based.

Which Platform Fits Your Situation

ORION Security is the right choice when stopping data from leaving the business is the job that matters most. MIND still fits teams that want stored-data discovery and remediation inside their DLP product, including Linux and ChromeOS endpoints. A different tool fits when the goal is stored-data posture alone, with no data-in-motion requirement.

ORION Security is the right choice if:

  • You're most exposed where data leaves through AI tools, personal accounts, SaaS shares, and email.
  • You want each verdict to carry the data's source, user, device, and destination.
  • You need a lean team to run the program across several channels.

MIND still fits if:

  • Scanning and fixing stored data is part of the same DLP project.
  • You've got a large Linux or ChromeOS estate.
  • You're comfortable letting AI agents write policies and remediate once the approval settings are agreed.

A different tool fits if:

  • Your goal is stored-data posture alone. Then you'll want a DSPM tool, and it can pair with ORION Security later, as the Wiz and ORION Security partnership shows.
  • Following data lineage through investigations is the center of your program, which is a focus of Cyberhaven.
  • Your exposure sits on managed laptops and one analyst runs the program, which is the case Jazz builds for.

What a Switch From MIND Looks Like

Run ORION Security alongside MIND first. Map the MIND policies and agent-driven remediations you rely on, cover the highest-risk exits, compare detections over the same weeks of activity, and then move to warnings and blocking once results are validated. Keep MIND's required enforcement and stored-data scanning in place until the replacement is proven.

Start with an inventory of the policies MIND's agents wrote, the remediations they run alone, and the stored-data scans compliance depends on, then decide what moves and what stays. Our DLP migration guide walks through the mapping.

Then run the six tests on both platforms with the same synthetic data and machines. Add the paths MIND's pages leave open: a contractor device, a personal AI account, and every browser you use. Agree your time-to-value targets before the overlap starts, and review findings with data owners before changing any control.

When the replacement catches what MIND catches, and the open paths too, move one team to warnings, then to blocking where the evidence supports it. Retire MIND's controls only after that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MIND a DLP or a data security posture tool?

MIND calls itself an AI-native data loss prevention platform. It covers data at rest and in motion, so it includes discovery and classification of stored data, which overlaps with DSPM, alongside real-time controls on data as it moves.

How much does MIND cost?

MIND doesn't publish list pricing on its website, so you'll need to request a quote. MIND DLP is also listed on AWS Marketplace, where final pricing comes through a private offer.

Do we need DSPM in place before replacing MIND?

No. DLP for data in motion doesn't depend on a finished inventory of stored data, as our piece on why DSPM isn't needed before DLP explains. If you're relying on MIND's stored-data scanning for compliance, keep it running or move that job to a DSPM tool first.

Can we run MIND and ORION Security side by side?

Yes, and it's the cleanest comparison. Run the same synthetic data through both on the same machines, and keep today's controls until you're done.

Do MIND's AI agents act without human approval?

MIND's pages describe a mix. Its rapid response agent executes approved remediation actions immediately and escalates when human approval is required. Ask which actions don't need a person and who approves new policies.

Which MIND alternative suits a lean security team?

MIND pitches agents that do the work while your team sets strategy. ORION Security customers report a lean model across several channels, such as one brokerage team member spending approximately two hours a day on routine review. Test both with your team's time.
